Well, I had my very first book signing last weekend. It was at this really great old book shop that’s just the kind of place you could spend all day browsing in. A friend of mine brought a tray of cookies from a fancy cookie shop that spelled out “IDOLS & CONS” and I had lots of support from friends and my family. Was it a profitable experience? Heck, no. But, it was fun and informative, and, for the first time, I felt like an “author.” My friend who brought the cookies also had a small party for me at her house that evening, where we popped some bubbly and ate baked brie. It was a good day. My point here is, new authors, have at least one book signing and make it a special occasion. The sales might not make you feel so hot, but it’s a learning experience, and one that you can share with family and friends – a memory to treasure once you become big and famous.

I think you’re right. I still need to have my first one. Weird that I haven’t really.
Hope the next one is even better!
And those cookies sound yummy.
